Beckham wants Cristiano for MLS team
The Englishman is about to set up a new MLS team in Miami and would want the Portuguese to be his star in the near future.
Cristiano Ronaldo is David Beckham's main goal for his MLS team. A new team is about to start shooting in Miami, and will belong to the United States League, Major League Soccer. The English ex-footballer is their owner and they already know part of their intentions. One of them is to get the services of Cristiano, but not immediately. According to the British press, Beckham wants the Portuguese crack to lead the project within three years, when the club would already be able to fight for the championship. With this addition the growth of the MLS is assured.
The second step would be to make this league one of the biggest tournaments in the world. It would not be a grouping of retired veterans, but large stars still active. "If you can bring an icon like David Beckham in his day or what David Villa is doing today, you could achieve a truly global base," said Don Garber, head of the MLS commission.
Cristiano has a contract in force with Real Madrid until the summer of 2021. At 35 years could be the time to leave the club and look for new challenges. One of the options that insurance will value will be to go with Beckham to Miami.
